About Knots & Sprouts
Hi!
I'm Joey.
I'm a neurodivergent and queer crocheter, that makes clothing, accessories, and home decor.
I started crocheting in February 2017 when my impatience got the best of me and I just really wanted a Magikarp hat. I was unable to buy one, so I got a set of hooks, some skeins of yarn, and bought a pattern. My grandma taught me the stitches as I encountered them in the pattern, and just over a week later I had that Magikarp hat.
I have been crocheting ever since, both as a productive fidgeting to regulate my anxiety, and also to keep the connection to my grandma alive in spite of her not
being here anymore while creating art through yarns.
Knots & Sprouts began as I was writing my first crochet dress pattern, that had been requested by countless people after I freehanded it. While writing the pattern I started making little pride flag themed headset sprouts, and coupled with the running theme of leaves and nature in the patterns I had in mind at the time, K&S was created.
A while later I started expanding into other crafts, and while I'm still keeping the original ideas around, a pivot was needed from the original name.
